EDUCATION & CAPACITY BUILDING

A. Constitutional & legal literacy programmes

Certificate Course on Constitutional Morality

Objective: The primary objective of this program is to instil awareness of constitutional morality among a diverse group of youth. The program aims to equip the youth with a comprehensive understanding of their rights and duties as guaranteed by the Constitution. Additionally, it seeks to provide insights into the origin of the Constitution, tracking its amendments over the years. By delving into the foundational philosophy and ideal values of the Constitution, the program endeavours to foster a sense of civic responsibility and engagement among the youth. Ultimately, the initiative strives to bridge the gap between social morality and constitutional morality, contributing to a more informed and conscientious citizenry.

Implementation: We adopt a collaborative approach to raise awareness and provide education on the Constitution. So far, we have partnered with over 100 colleges in Maharashtra. We have implemented the program in multiple batches, each featuring a comprehensively designed syllabus. To measure the impact of the program, we conduct pre- and post-analysis assessments on the students’ understanding of the Constitution. Distinguished speakers, including constitutional experts and grassroots activists, are invited to deliver presentations during the sessions. The sessions are conducted in both online and offline modes. Overall, we have reached over 2500 students through this course so far.

My Constitution, My Identity Course for Children

Objective:  The primary objective of the course is to instill a constitutional culture among children from an early age. We firmly believe that nurturing constitutional values during childhood lays the foundation for the development of responsible citizenship and a robust sense of constitutional morality in the future. By introducing children to the principles, rights, and duties enshrined in the Constitution, we aim to cultivate a deep understanding and appreciation of democratic values, social justice, and fundamental freedoms. Through interactive learning experiences and age-appropriate activities, we seek to engage children in exploring the significance of concepts such as equality, justice, liberty, and fraternity.

Implementation: To realize our objective, we developed a cost-free, online app-based course tailored for students from classes 1 to 10. Partnering with the Vowels of People Association Organisation, an organization dedicated to primary education in Maharashtra, we leveraged their expertise and infrastructure to make the course widely accessible. The course is now seamlessly integrated into the V-School App, an educational platform used by Zilla Parishad schools across Maharashtra. Through this collaborative effort, we have successfully extended the reach of the course to nearly 10 lakh students in the state.

Shikshan Yatra: Education to Empowerment

Objective:  The Education to Empowerment Initiative, is driven by a multifaceted objective aimed at dismantling barriers to education for marginalized students. The primary objective of the Education to Empowerment Initiative is to empower marginalized individuals, including minorities, tribal and first-generation learners, and economically deprived communities, by breaking down barriers to education. This is achieved through the provision of free mentoring, academic coaching, and leadership capacity building, equipping individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to access higher education opportunities. Beyond academic pursuits, the initiative extends its focus to development sector livelihood and fellowship opportunities, as well as social security, financial inclusion, and government education scholarships. By taking this comprehensive approach, the program aims to break the cycle of poverty within a generation, fostering inclusive education and empowering marginalized communities to actively contribute as citizens. Moreover, the initiative seeks to address historical disparities in higher education, ensuring equal access and representation for Dalit, Adivasi, nomadic tribes, and other marginalized communities, ultimately contributing to broader social transformation and upward mobility for these groups.

Implementation: The Education to Empowerment Initiative adopts a comprehensive implementation strategy to drive a positive transformation in the educational landscape of the Vidarbha region. Through strategic collaborations with key governmental departments such as the Tribal Development Department and Zilha Parishad Education Department, as well as grassroots-level non-profit organizations including Jagrut Sanstha, Magic Foundation, Nature Foundation, Yuvashakti Krantikari Sanghtan, and Sankalp Foundation, the initiative seeks to effectively implement its goals. By leveraging governmental resources and expertise, alongside the collective efforts of grassroots organizations, the initiative endeavours to create pathways for marginalized students, fostering a synergistic environment that maximizes the potential for positive change and inclusivity within the educational landscape.

The initiative’s Outreach Programmes, exemplified by the impactful Shikshan Yatra reflect a strategic approach marked by collaboration with the Education Department of Zilha Parishad and grassroots-level non-profit organizations. Through this initiative, educational sessions were conducted in 110 institutions, engaging nearly 30,000 students.  As the initiative progresses, the foundation plans to organize an Education Week in each district of Vidarbha to amplify its outreach efforts. In the domain of Mentoring and Academic Coaching, the focus lies on recruiting mentors with diverse expertise, establishing a structured mentoring program, and conducting regular coaching sessions to enhance core skills. Leadership Capacity Building is addressed through the development of programs tailored to the specific needs of marginalized communities, collaboration with seasoned professionals, and the organization of workshops designed to foster leadership qualities.  The initiative also addresses Social Security and Financial Inclusion through awareness campaigns, assistance in application processes, and strategic partnerships with relevant governmental and non-governmental entities.
